These terms cover your use of the Heat Pump Guides website, podcast, and contractor referrals. Using the site means you accept them.

Agreement

By visiting the site, listening to the podcast, or asking us to connect you with a contractor, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

What we do — and what we are not

Heat Pump Guides publishes educational content about heat pumps and introduces homeowners to contractors who install and service them.

We want to be unambiguous about our role:

  • We are not an HVAC contractor. We do not sell, install, service, or repair heating and cooling equipment, and we are not licensed to do so.
  • We are not engineers, and we do not design systems. Nothing here is a load calculation, a system design, or a substitute for a site visit by a qualified professional.
  • We are not tax, legal, or financial advisors. We describe incentive programs as we understand them, but you should confirm anything that affects your money with a qualified advisor or the program itself.

Our content is information, not professional advice

Episodes, guides, state pages, and any figures we publish are general information. Every house is different — its insulation, its ductwork, its climate, its existing system. What worked for a homeowner we interviewed may be wrong for you. Always get a qualified contractor to assess your specific home before making a decision.

Estimates, data, and incentive information

We take accuracy seriously and cite our sources, but published figures come with limits you should understand:

  • Adoption and climate figures come from third-party sources such as the U.S. Energy Information Administration and NOAA. They are survey estimates and long-run averages, not measurements of your home or your weather.
  • Rebates and tax credits change, sometimes abruptly. Programs are created, exhausted, and repealed. A figure that was correct when written may be wrong by the time you read it. Always confirm current terms with the program administrator before relying on them.
  • Savings depend on your house, your fuel prices, your electricity rate, and how you use the system. Any savings discussion is illustrative, not a prediction or a guarantee.

Contractor referrals

When we connect you with a contractor, we are making an introduction — nothing more.

Contractors are independent businesses. They are not our employees, agents, partners, or subcontractors. We do not supervise their work, set their prices, or control their scheduling, licensing, or insurance. Any contract you enter is between you and that contractor.

We are not a party to that agreement and are not responsible for a contractor's work, conduct, pricing, delays, damage, warranty claims, or any dispute you may have with them. We may receive a fee for making an introduction.

Before hiring anyone, verify their licence and insurance, get the scope in writing, and get more than one quote. We recommend this to everybody, including our own listeners.

Your responsibilities

You agree to give accurate information when you request a referral, to use the site lawfully, and not to interfere with it — no scraping at a scale that burdens the site, no attempts to break into it, and no using our content to build a competing service without permission.

Our content

The podcast, written guides, graphics, logo, and site design are owned by Heat Pump Guides or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may share links, quote briefly with attribution, and use the normal podcast sharing features. You may not republish substantial portions, or use our name or logo to suggest we endorse you, without written permission.

Things you send us

If you send a question, review, or story — for the show or the site — you give us permission to publish and edit it in connection with our content, and you confirm it is yours to share. We will not publish your contact details.

Third-party links and platforms

We link to programs, agencies, contractors, and podcast platforms we do not control. Links are not endorsements, and we are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of other sites. Listening through Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube is governed by their terms, not ours.

Disclaimer

The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the information on it is complete or current.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Heat Pump Guides is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost savings, profits, or data, arising from your use of the site, our content, or any contractor introduced through us. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Heat Pump Guides from claims and expenses arising out of your misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, or a dispute between you and a contractor.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised version.
